Costa Blanca property finders in Valencia and the Costa Blanca
One of the most important financial commitments we make is buying a property. And when the property you want to purchase is overseas things are often more complicated than buying back home. Perhaps the most common mistake today’s buyers make is to start searching on the internet, looking at pretty pictures online. Everybody does it. But the first step should be about locations, not properties. Often, buyers think they have found their dream property online. Then they go to view it. Such a disappointment when they discover it’s located next to an industrial zone or facing a noisy highway. That’s a big waste of time and money and using the services of Costa Blanca property finders avoids these problems. The Costa Blanca has some of Spain’s best beaches and we think these are some of the most beautiful.
The Property Finders difference
- First of all, we identify all the best locations for your particular requirements. We ask lots of questions to develop a very detailed brief. Things like how far from the beach, is it for full-time or holiday use, is rental income important? Do you want coast or country, a quiet place or great nightlife, good public transport? As experts in our region we can suggest locations that you may not have thought about, or even heard of. Getting the location right from the beginning will save you a lot of money that you could spend in your new home. Only once we have helped you identify the best locations for your needs will we start tracking down suitable properties.
- We defend your interests. We are buyers’ agents, your agents, so we will act in your favour all the time. On the contrary, real estate agents act in the seller’s interest, that’s their job. And of course, they are only concerned with selling in their area, other locations don’t interest them. We will tell you the positives and negatives of every property. Perhaps most important of all, we never recommend a property that we would not buy ourselves.
- We are very experienced negotiators. Our knowledge of the market means we normally achieve a substantial discount off the asking price, usually saving our clients many times our fee.
Valencia, the capital of the province of Valencia. It’s Spain’s third largest city and one of Spain’s most beautiful. Together with the provinces of Alicante and Castellón it makes up the comunidad valenciana. It is on the AVE high-speed rail network, journey time to Madrid just 1h.30m. The region’s wonderful sandy beaches, superb climate, welcoming people and delicious cuisine attract property buyers from all over the world. It is, of course, famous as the home of paella, Spain’s best known dish. Throughout region many restaurants are more than a century old but they are still cooking in the traditional way.
There are lots of property options. For example, apartments and villas on the beaches or on one of the many golf courses in the area. In addition, there are village houses, villas and farmhouses in the lovely countryside inland from the coast. Then there is the city itself, an eclectic mix of Roman heritage and ultra-modern architecture. A city apartment within walking distance of museums, monuments, restaurants and theatres is one option. But the great coastal location means you can combine a beach and city location, for example in the Malvarrosa area.
The city’s facilities have been much modernised in recent years with the marina upgraded to host the America’s Cup. The striking modern architecture of the City of Arts and Sciences is a landmark recognised around the world. This is where you will find the open-air Oceanographic aquarium, the largest in Europe and home to over 500 different species.
Alicante is one of the two most popular provinces for property buyers from overseas. It’s true that parts of this coast have been heavily over-developed. However, there are still many traditional and unspoilt towns and villages such as Javea, Denia, Moraira, Calpe and El Campello. All have wonderful sandy beaches and sheltered coves. Although many property buyers are happy driving on Spain’s excellent motorways Alicante is a great choice for non-drivers. TRAM, an 80km coastal train line, connects Alicante city with Denia in the north, stopping at resorts along the way. The high-speed AVE train service connects Alicante and Madrid in 2h.30m.
Castellón is the most northerly province in the comunidad valenciana. It has a great mix of lively coastal towns, for example Benacassim and Oropesa. Medieval towns and villages, such as Morella, dot the mountainous rural interior. The mild climate on the coastal stretch known as the Costa Azahar or Orange Blossom Coast makes it ideal for year-round living. One of the most popular towns is Peñíscola. The landmark 13thC castle was built for Pope Benedict XIII. Film buffs will recognise it as the backdrop to the most famous battle scenes in the film El Cid. There are eight nature parks in Castellón province protecting the environment and marine ecosystems.
Murcia is at the southern end of this region, bordering Alicante to the north and Andalucía to the south. This coastal area is known as the Costa Cálida. It is one of Spain’s most important agricultural regions and exports fruit and vegetables worldwide. In January 2019 the long-awaited new airport near Corvera opened for flights and the old airport is now closed.
Cartegena is the most important city in Murcia, known to the Romans as Carthago Nova. The restored Roman Theatre close to the harbour is a must-see. The unique Mar Menor is a shallow, salt-water lagoon in the south-east of Murcia. A 22 km long sandbar separates it from the Mediterranean. Think of it as a very large, warm, salt-water swimming pool. La Manga Leisure and Sport Resort, where you can enjoy a variety of sports, is a short distance away. The choice includes golf, tennis, cricket, rugby, triathlon, equestrianism and many others. Remember to keep a look out for the many top sports stars from around the world who do pre-season and winter training here.
