Armed with a post-graduate qualification in teaching English as a foreign language, Paul Hudson left his career in London behind and headed for Italy, establishing a successful business offering coaching for senior managers, as well as translation and journalism services for local and global clients. The original plan was to stay ‘just a year’ but this has become twelve, the quality of life and safe, family oriented way of life being a big attraction and Paul now has a five year old going to school in Italy.
The career move into property was made after noticing that buying agents were becoming a popular choice with savvy, time-poor buyers in the UK and that no equivalent seemed to be on offer to buyers looking for property in Italy. While there are estate agents aplenty, and some even speak English, the concept of an agent acting wholly on behalf of the buyer is an unknown concept in Italy, making The Property Finders' Italian operation unique inasmuch as the advice and services are not just professional but also independent – we do not take any commission from the seller and we not have a shop window full of properties to palm off on the unsuspecting.
After twelve years working in Italy Paul has established a large network of contacts within the property sector, built up good local knowledge and has real insight and in-depth understanding of his territory, which includes Lombardy, Tuscany, Venice, Emilia Romagna and the northern Lakes.
Property hunting abroad can be a daunting prospect. It's not just time consuming but also unfamiliar – the market, the buying process, the language. The team working with Paul has been built to meet those needs and includes a very experienced English-speaking architect who has run his own studio since 1986 and is therefore thoroughly familiar with Italian legislation.
