American born Rita Fryer spent nearly 20 years in the Hotel, Tourism and Travel industry living and working in the UK, Brasil, USA, the Maldives and Italy. She has broad experience in marketing across three continents, working for The Heart of England Tourist Board, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Air New Zealand and CIGA Hotels, amongst others. She is fluent in 4 languages.
A tourism marketing project brought her to Catalonia in 1988 and she fell in love with the region. Rita made the switch to real estate in 1989 and soon realised that property buyers were not being properly represented by traditional estate agents. The same property was often shown by several agents, each of whom quoted a different price. There seemed to be a general lack of interest in helping the property buyer find and purchase the property he or she actually wanted. Property buyers were often rushed into signing binding purchase contracts with no legal representation, no knowledge of the language and no proper explanation of procedure.
In 1992, the hotel industry enticed Rita to Seville where she was invited to set up and run a small luxury hotel for one of the organizers, as well as managing their VIP visits to the World’s Fair.
After the Fair closed, Rita headed back to Catalonia with the desire to get back into real estate, but from a different perspective. She founded Property Network International -probably Spain's first property search consultancy - working exclusively for property buyers. Rita’s in depth knowledge of Catalonia, from the Pyrenees in the north to the Ebro delta in the south, the Costa Brava, the Costa Dorada and Barcelona gives her an unsurpassed ability to advise her clients about the best property and location for them. In 2003, she opened a satellite office in Madrid which offers property acquisition and relocation services to the Spanish capital.
Her long term vision was to form a consortium
of independent professionals who offer
the same personal service in other locations.
In 2003, Rita met Barbara Wood who was
operating her own property search consultancy
for Andalucia, and together they launched
The Property Finders. TPF currently helps
property buyers locate and purchase property
in Andalucía, Catalonia (including
Barcelona), Mallorca, Madrid, Ireland,
France Italy.
