American born Rita Fryer spent nearly 20 years in the Hotel, Tourism and Travel industries living and working in the UK, Brasil, the USA, the Maldives and Italy. She has broad experience in marketing across three continents and is fluent in 4 languages. A marketing project brought her to Catalonia in 1988 and she fell in love with the wonderful contrasts of this autonomous region. Having always been interested in property, Rita made the switch to real estate in 1989 and was immediately struck by the lack of professionalism shown by most estates agents in the area. The same property was often marketed by several agents at different prices. There seemed to be a general lack of interest in helping the property buyer find and purchase the right property for their needs. And buyers' interests were not being properly looked after: they were often rushed into signing binding purchase contracts with no legal representation, no knowledge of the language, no proper explanation of procedure and, worst of all, no proper examination of the property’s real legal status.

A fantastic offer at the 1992 World’s Fair in Seville enticed Rita to put her new career in property on hold for a short time. But after the Fair closed, Rita headed back to Catalonia to found Spain's first property search consultancy working exclusively for property buyers. It was a revolutionary new idea. Understanding that most people make their purchase because they have fallen in love with a specific property, she encourages her clients to focus first on establishing the right location for their needs. This is an especially easy mistake to make nowadays as most people begin their search online. However beautiful a particular property is, there can be tears if one does not understand the dynamics of an area before buying. Rita refers to this as beginning at the bottom and working up rather than the other way around. She explains that finding the right property should be the last step in the process, not the first.

Rita’s in depth knowledge of real estate in Catalonia, from the Pyrenees in the north to the Ebro delta in the south, the Costa Brava, the Costa Daurada, the inland areas and Barcelona gives her an unsurpassed ability to advise her clients about the best location and property for them. Rita’s long term vision was to form a consortium of independent professionals who offer the same personal service in other locations. In 2003, she met Barbara Wood who was operating her own property search consultancy for Andalucía and together they launched The Property Finders. TPF currently helps property buyers locate and purchase property in Andalucía, Catalonia (including Barcelona), Mallorca, and south east England. The Property Finders plans to incorporate other European hotspots into the network as opportunities become available.

Rita is married to an international art dealer and lives in Aiguablava, one of the beautiful bays outside the medieval village of Begur.

In 2008, to better serve clients wishing to buy in the large inlandprovinceofLleida, Declan Doyle joined Rita Fryer’s team as the specialist for this beautiful, unspoiled area.  Hang Gliding brought Declan to Ager, a medieval village nestling at the foot of the magnificent Montsec range. The excellent climate, the culture and cuisine and the commercial prospects have kept him there ever since.  Originally an accountant and graduate of UCD Dublin, Declan sold his management consultancy practice and moved permanently to Ager in 1989. He set up a sports adventure service and bought several apartments for rent to the visiting fliers. He has organised many major sporting events in Ager, including several editions of the Ager challenge and the World Hang Gliding championships.  From 1990- 2000, he set up and ran a very successful night time cocktail bar in Ager.  Declan also writes occasional articles on the Spanish football championship and book reviews for an Irish national newspaper and has organised several classical music concerts in the area.  Since selling his bar, he became involved in buying and selling property, including a hotel, 2 abandoned towns, several farms and town houses.  Declan has the knowledge, contacts and skill required to make sure a purchase in this rural area goes through without complication.
